Camping trip is tomorrow. We spent the morning today reviewing and practicing for tomorrow's Gears, Gearing, and Forces test. Next week we will begin to apply what we have learned in order to build our first simple robots (not quite robots, but a good starting point). We spent the afternoon reviewing and revising articles. The students used the following form to guide their review and revision work. Due Dates

We are now turning our attention to robots and robotics. We spent today reviewing and updating our understanding of gears and gearing. Tomorrow we will spend some time determining gear ratios (simple and compound). A test will follow later in the week. Next week we will apply our knowledge of gears and gearing to create machines that can at first pull a lot of weight and then, with some changes to gearing, go really fast. This will be followed by the building of simple remote controlled robots. Finally, Pepper will be arriving in the next two weeks.
In the afternoon, we will be focusing on finishing articles for the first edition of the MR Magazine. Don't forget... We go camping on Thursday. Just a last minute reminder that students should be ready to present their recorded stories tomorrow.

I met with all of the students that need to send out surveys for their magazine articles. One or two students needed to make revisions, but all surveys should be sent out by tomorrow. We will start organizing and analyzing data on Monday. Tomorrow, I will be meeting with those students that need to do interviews. We will be looking at interview questions. All interviews should be completed by the end of next week.
We started reading Flowers for Algernon. We are reading the short story and not the novel. We have a number of activities that are associated with the story. Due Dates
