That is one week down, and it was a good one. We spent this morning working on all school challenges. The afternoon was spent working on the Superhero Project. On Monday, we begin math and ELA.

OK... I am done counting down the days. With that said, at this point, all of the students have returned the necessary forms. Great job. We spent part of the morning making sure the students understood the importance of layout when it comes to creating a document (think about how a resume looks). We also completed the Touchdown Challenge. Students had to safely land two marshmallows dropped from the balcony of the Big Room. (The marshmallows had to remain in a small cup.) Everyone did a great job. Finally, we spent the afternoon working on the superhero posters and videos.

Three days down. Man... We are rolling along. Today we read a short story and took a quiz about the story. I want to gauge where the students are in terms of reading comprehension. I will not be reporting this grade home as it is more of a pre-assessment. The superhero project was introduced today. The mini poster and teaser trailer are due Monday, September 10. What is Due and When
And that is two days of schooling. Man... The year is just flying by. Today we built towers out of pasta in order to support Ninja Nancy. Each student completed a strength-finder survey in order to identify the things they are good at. We read a bit from the novel The Ghost in the Tokaido Inn. Finally, the students spent time writing job descriptions for the different chores we need to complete.
What is Due and When
And our first day has come to an end. We reviewed rules, talked about quality, and built and launched rockets in the morning. In the afternoon, we began to get comfortable with the new iPads. Each student has been given a number of forms and tasks that need to be completed prior to having the privilege of taking home an iPad. Parents will notice that they need to sign 3 forms... the Paper iPad, Tech Contract, and Rules and Guidelines.
Student checklist appears below. To begin taking home your iPad, you will need to complete all of the tasks below.
