The class was divided today. One half of the class worked with Raisa to complete an experiment that involved using a calorimeter to determine the number of calories in a food sample. The other half of the class worked with me to create work calendars that would help them organize the work necessary to meet all of the requirements for the food show. Over the next few days, I will be posting all of the elements and requirements for the food show. These requirements have been posted in the classroom, and the students will be given hard copies of the requirements. The requirements will also be posted online, and I will post them as part of this blog over the next few days. We are also creating an elaborate tracking system, so that the students will know what they have completed and what they still have to complete. For tomorrow, the groups will switch. One half with me the other half with Raisa. Due Dates...
There are no current due dates. Presentations are nearly done. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we will set the date and time for the food show. We will also be assigning all of the remaining requirements for the food show. 14 students have presented their food product concepts. Nearly all of the presentations were excellent. We will continue with presentations on Monday.
Students should have submitted Animal Farm Chapter 7 Questions. Next week, we hope to set a day for the food show. 5 student presented their food product concepts today. All five presentations were excellent. We will continue with presentations tomorrow and Monday. The students that went today set a very high bar for the students that have yet to present.
Raisa has an additional assignment due tomorrow (Thursday). See below. Due Dates Wednesday - 10/19
Food Concept and Development Presentation Now that you have spent a good bit of time examining your competitors and learning about your possible customers, it is time to begin to develop your food product. Before actually making the food product, you still need to spend a good bit of time thinking about the food product. Presentation Create a presentation that highlights the concept behind your new food product and describes your new food product. You will need to refer to our class discussion for an explanation of concept. Specific Presentation Requirements (in no particular order - present the information in the order that you think is best) Note: Please use images, graphics, and pictures throughout the presentation to support all of your discussion.
Just a recap of yesterday's news, with one addition...
Students should be thinking about and perhaps working to create samples of their food product. We will discuss the specific requirements for the actual food next week, but now would be a good time to make a few prototype batches in order to work out the bugs. Don't forget that we do not have school on Friday of this week. Due Dates Wednesday - 10/19
