For the next few days, maybe a week or two, maybe more, we are focused on three projects.
This weekend, I will be sending home quick assessments of each Value Display. The final displays were very good. Most of them are displayed in the foyer. I also hope to assess the last set of Roll of Thunder questions.
So... there you have it. Lots of cool stuff going on.
We have finished reading Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. In the coming days we will complete a quiz on the book and the students will create some form of project about the book. The form the project takes will be up to the students. More to come on all of that later.
Over the next few days, we will also begin to do interviews for the magazine articles. Those students doing interview will first write questions for those interviews. Those students that need to do surveys for their articles, will write up the questions for the survey.
Finally, the students spent some time developing a plot outline for the stories that they will be creating.
Lots of stuff going on.
Friday, October 27
Final Value Displays were turned in today. The displays will be displayed outside the classroom.
In order to give the students some experience taking notes, we had a short lecture on tribal governments and their relationships with the federal government and state governments. Throughout the year we will have a few lectures on topics that are related to our projects. This gives the students a chance to practice taking notes. The students will then use their notes to complete an open-notes quiz.
In the afternoon, the students took some time to think about their next article topics. They need to write down five things they already know about the topic, five things that they think they know about the topic, and five things that they need to learn about the topic.
