Your task is to build a bridge that will support the most weight as compared to its mass.
Materials (You may only use the following materials to construct your bridge.)
One Box of Pasta
Hot Glue
Super Glue
Design Constraints
All bridges must be able to span an 18 inch chasm. (This means that your bridge will need to be longer than 18 inches.)
You must make a place for the bridge to be loaded. We will use a bar and hook. You must make a place in the center of your bridge where the bar and hook can be placed. (See sketch)
There is no maximum or minimum length requirement. Remember, your bridge must span an 18 inch chasm.
Maximum bridge width is 7 inches. You cannot make your bridge wider than 7 inches.
You may glue 3 strands of spaghetti together to form a single piece, but no more than 3 strands. This is referred to as double or triple bonding or lamination.
No part of the bridge may touch the ground.
You must leave room for the load bar to be placed on your bridge. The load bar is 1.5 inches wide and 1 inch high. See below.
